Glenwood Hot Springs was looking to provide shade to over 200’ of terraced pool deck so that guests could retreat from the intense Colorado sun. Trex Pergola worked with the resort to develop a solution to address these challenges by designing multiple shade structures that were durable and aesthetically pleasing. Jeremy describes why Glenwood Hot Springs chose the low-maintenance Trex Pergola for their property.

Glenwood Hot Springs opened for business in 1888. We have been open for over one hundred and twenty-five years and have been a destination for health and wellness and relaxation ever since.
The Ute Native Americans have been traveling to the hot springs for thousands of years before we opened the Glenwood Hot Springs. They were the ones that actually named the spring Yampa, meaning big medicine. They believed the spring to be a sacred place of health and healing.
The current ownership bought the property in the mid fifties and have made it successful by investing money back into it over the years. Whether it’s the lodge, the athletic club or our spa.
This year, our capital improvement project was to invest in permanent attractive shade structures. Our guests requested it and we listened. Whether it was over here in the snack bar area where our guests are standing on hot concrete waiting in line to get some goodies, we don’t want them to burn their feet anymore. We also invested in a hundred foot shade structure right back here behind me for those guests that need to get out of the sun on a hot summer day.
We chose Trex Pergola at Glenwood Hot Springs because of it’s low-maintenance, unlike wood products you don’t have to replace parts every couple years or stain it. It’s customizable design made it easy to install. It’s aesthetic appeal was great and a perfect fit for the Glenwood Hot Springs. The durability is amazing. With the environmental conditions here in Glenwood Springs going from negative fifteen degrees in the winter to one hundred degrees in the summer, that was a very important factor in our decision process.
We are looking forward to a great summer here at Glenwood Hot Springs and eager to hear back from our guests on the recent improvements that we made with the Trex Pergola shade structure. That may help us in the future, decide if we want to add more shade throughout the pool deck and the property.
