Hello, I’m Bill Morris, Senior Estimator at Structureworks with a time saving tip you can use when installing a Trex pergola.
Spacers will help you quickly and accurately add stringers to your structure.
Our installation instructions include a drawing that shows stringer placement and measurements, so be sure to check your drawing for proper placement on your pergola.
These instructions show the first stringer being placed 1’ 1-1/4” from the end of the rafters to the center of the first stringer and the remaining stringers are spaced 11 13/16” apart center to center.
Trex Pergola stringers are 1-1/2” square, so the inside measurement to properly space the stringers would be 11 13/16” minus 1-1/2” or 10-5/16” between stringers and that’s the length that you want to cut your spacers.
Once you have cut your spacers and secured the first stringer, use two 10-5/16” spacers to quickly install the remaining stringers properly spaced across the pergola rafters.
